La Tolvanera
A brilliant book that compiles the work of Jesus Maya, an extraordinary community poet and activist based in Toronto.
The book vividly captures the daily moments that ultimately give meaning to Maya's life as he moves through different geographic, personal and historical contexts. Each piece of writing is based on dreams, grief, successes and disappointments evoking powerful images that are representative of lived experiences in el barrio and beyond. The book is organized into 5 journeys that speak of personal and migratory rajectories traversing national and affective boundaries.
