Daniela's Action Research Project is titled The Latino Socio-Cultural (Elementary) School Identity Development and its long term consequences and effects in the pursuance of further education. Daniela's study discusses some of the structural obstacles that lead Latino school children, whether in Canada or the USA, to underperform in school environments.
Through her research, Daniela seeks to understand the cultural-Latino experience and perspective on schooling as well as social relations within the school. She is also interested in exploring the factors that contribute to academic success and how these factors can be incorporated as part of the Latino school experience on a cultural and social level. Daniela hopes that her research will be used to develop recommendations to increase Latino student success and reduce future dropout rates.
